Paper-cutting is a traditional Chinese culture. Paper-cutting is mostly used as a decoration, or an aesthetic way to express people�s wishes, gratitude and other emotions. The vividly depicted cuttings usually express wishes for a harvest, good fortunes, good health, happiness, and wealth.
In this paper cutting, there were some deer under a peach tree, with some bat in between. In the Chinese pronunciation, bat is the same as happiness (fu); deer is the same as salary (lu), meaning wealth. And peach means longevity. This paining express the best wishes for happiness, wealth, and longevity.
In 2002, Tingting Su was admitted to Academy of Arts and Design of Tsinghua University, one of the best colleges of art in China, where she majored in Ceramic Arts and Design. In Tsinghua, she expanded her knowledge on the history of Chinese art and foreign art, developed her skills on ceramic design as well as drawing, painting, paper cutting, and sculpture. She received her bachelor and master in fine arts in Tsinghua University.
